What are Biomass ?

Biomass is an organic material that is used in generation of energy that can be used as replacement for petroleum products. These materials inculde forest residues, agricultural waste, wood waste, coffee husks, rice husks, cashew shells, groundnut shells, coconut shells, bamboo leftovers etc.,

What are Biomass Pellets ?

The biomass materials are converted into dust or semi-powdered form and placed under high pressure, forcing it through a round opening called a “Die”. When they are exposed to appropriate conditons, the biomass dust fuses together, forming a solid known to be biomass pellets.

The pellets which can be used as a substitute  or replacement to petroleum products totally by adopting minor changes in the working system.

Benefits of Using Pellets

Arrow
As wood pellets are Renewable Source of Energy, which are Less Pollutent & Environmental Friendly.
Arrow
High efficient Quality, Clean & Green Fuel
Arrow
Reduction in Air Pollution due to reduction in stubble burning.
Arrow
The burning of biomass pellets don’t generate Sulfur Dioxide or Phosphorus Pent Oxide which are more in other fuels, so it is causes less pollution to atmosphere.
Arrow
Burning wood pellets generate a small quantity of ash residues. It can save the space for slag piling and the cost of disposing it. The ash of wood pellet fuels are high quality organic potash fertilizer that is recyclable.
Arrow
Production of electricity, uses in industries & households from a resource (biomass) which was earlier less used in traditional methods or being burnt to ash in farm lands as leftovers by farmers.
Arrow
Secondary Income generation for farmers & job creation for pellet manufacturers.
Arrow
Cost of pellets are 50% cheaper, when compared to other fuels alternatives.
Arrow
Easy in Handling, Transporting, Storing & Using.
Arrow
Pellets are Non-Explosive & Non-Hazardous fuel compared to Diesel, LPG & Others.
Arrow
Maintenance of pellets burners & boilers are low, compared to other burners & boilers.
Arrow
As a Renewable Energy, the use of biomass pellets receives Subsidies from Governments in many countries. With more restrictions on polluting fuels, biomass pellets will have more advantages.

Biomass Pellets Uses

Cooking

Pellets are used in Domestic and Commercial Cooking purpose, as an alternative to LPG, Electricity and Other Petroleum products.

Residential Heating

Pellets are used in Chimneys for heating  the buildings,  to keep  indoors warm during rainy and winter seasons.

Power Generation

Pellets are being burned in Thermal Power Plant to generate heat, which is then being converted into electricity.

Industries

Pellets are used in Industries where burners and boilers are used to produce their respective outputs or finished products.
